Headline of the Day

The government is examining a pilot to allow Palestinian workers back in from the age of 45 and up

that's what they call a pilot? haven't we been allowing Palestinian workers in for decades already? The pilot of tens of years failed. Were only 44 years olds (and down) involved in terror?

  1. Taking Palestinians from the West Bank was not as disastrous as from Gaza. The elephant in the room with respect to Gaza is that Hamas controlled everything going on in the strip, so even a worker with no interest in harming Israel could easily be compelled to spy on behalf of Hamas.

In the West Bank Israel has a measure of security control (the armed forces that control the territories are mostly the Israeli army and Fatah forces that collaborate with Israel) so it is a different situation

  2. "involved" in terror includes scouting out targets and providing intelligence. Something a 45 year old, or even a 75 year old, can do. And there was a lot of that prior to October 7.

  3. I think the assumption is that once you're over 45, you've got a home, kids and bills to pay and you're less likely to want to do terror, as opposed to younger people who don't have competing responsibilities.

    1. no such assumptions work in regard to terrorists.

    2. Definitely. One of today's terrorists in Rannana would have qualified if he hadn't been barred for security reasons (and was working here illegally).
