Tweet of the Day

late last night, just before the start this morning of the trial in the Hague at the ICJ in the South African lawsuit against Israel for genocide, PM Netanyahu made this statement in English. It was necessary for the court to hear it on record that Israel has no intention to displace the Palestinians and encourage their migration from Gaza to other countries. With the various Ministers in his government and MKs having made statements over the past months since the war began that attest to intentions to get rid of or wipe out the Palestinians, this is the least he can do to try to fix that.

I still think a better tactic would have been a countersuit against the Palestinians for genocide, with the October 7 massacre as the primary piece of evidence. Israel is not a member of the ICJ so would likely have needed one of our friends to file, the same way South Africa filed for the Palestinians...

  1. They can't countersue because Hamas is not a signatory to the convention against Genocide. Which is also why Hamas couldn't sue Israel (South Africa filed the suit) - Hamas has no standing in the court.

This is the problem when a western democracy fights a terror organization, each team plays by different rules. Israel is bound by International Law, Hams can do whatever they want.

One comparison is that they are playing checkers, we are playing chess. But probably more accurate to say that we are playing chess, and they are playing rugby.
