In light of the dry hot weather with strong winds and evaluation of the meteorological services and security forces, tonight's torch lighting ceremony has been cancelled due to potential danger. They will broadcast the recorded dress rehearsal in its place.

Friend of mine told me that what the news is trying to downplay is that most of these fires are being set by Arabs.
ReplyDeleteMy big worry is that Lag B'Omer is coming and the Chareidim will insist on their fires no matter what.
there is talk of the possibility, and on some arabic telegram groups there are calls for people to light fires. a few people have been arrested. we'll see what happens and what they find as they look into it
