hostage to meet captors sponsor
Idan's family has confirmed, after release (expected to be this evening), Idan Alexander will fly to Qatar, if his medical condition permits it, to meet with US President Donald Trump and the Emir of Qatar.
As Amit Segal pointed out, it is ironic and crazy that he will immediately fly to Qatar and meet with the sponsors of Hamas who took and held him hostage.
It is not strange that he is going to meet with Trump, and since Trump seems to not be coming to Israel on this trip Alexander will fly to him instead. Meeting the Emir of Qatar is strange. Perhaps it is simply because he is going to Qatar to meet Trump so that makes meeting the Emir inevitable and maybe unavoidable.

That being said, I hope he takes the opportunity to tell them what he went through, describe the conditions of his captivity, and plead with them to pressure Hamas to release the rest of the hostages.

It's quite astonishing that he would go there. I hope he makes an excuse and bows out.
ReplyDeleteIs he even in a condition to fly to Qatar? I would think he needs some medical attention first.
ReplyDeleteTrump seems dead set on maintaining a good image for Qatar. Having the head hostage taking enabler pose with a hostage he helped take will be an amazing opportunity.
