Quote of the Day
If they arrest yeshiva students - we will all leave and go to chutz laaretz. There is no right of existence in this land if we don't have the Torah.
-- Former Chief Rabbi of Israel Rav Yitzchak Yosef, regarding the recent news that the IDF will start enforcing the existing laws and search for people who have not reported for duty
I dont think this is as big a threat as he thinks it is...

Not to mention not feasible, and not to mention that even if all of the Charedim of draft age were to be drafted at the same time, there would still be Torah in the state (and quite a bit at that).
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised he didn't invoke "This is just like the what the Czar did to us."
ReplyDeleteHe must know he's lying. The vast majority of "learn don't earn" will not be affected. Yeshivat Hesder proves you can learn and fight. And frankly, who will take hundreds of thousands of professional parasites who show up at the border and announce 'We're leaving Israel and we expect you to pay us now!"?
Eretz Nehederet (I think) had a comedy sketch with Rav Yosef showing up at the boarding gate and continually saying "Yes, we're leaving! And don't try to stop us!" as the gate attendant kept saying "Got it, now get on the place" over and over.
Yup, pure political grandstanding.
DeleteThe best response is to get some hesder boys to show up at his front door with some empty suitcase and say "Here you go."
DeleteHesder boys take their learning seriously.... They wouldn't want to waste the time
DeleteAs a good friend of mine says, "Don't let the doorknob hit you where the Good Lord split you".
