Fighting about what to name a child is not uncommon. In the Haredi community there is generally a policy to go by, if the couple is part of that community and willing to go by it - as to which parent gets naming rights for which child. But even then there are exceptions, such as in a situation where a close relative recently passed away. 

Not to fuel conspiracy theories, but it seems strange to me, a bit too much of a coincidence, that right when the world population starts vaccinating an announcement is made of the discovery of a new mutation with a very high morbidity rate. World leaders and medical experts have yet to say the vaccine is definitely going to be effective for the new mutation, though they seem to be saying they think it will be.
