strollers allowed to remain open on buses
2 months ago a law was proposed by which mothers would no longer have to fold up strollers on buses and on the Jerusalem Light-Rail, AND they would not have to pay for an extra ticket because of it.
Yesterday the law was finally approved and signed on by the Minister of Transportation, Yisrael Katz (it still needs to be signed on to by the Finance Minister). The change will go into effect in one month - it takes time to pass the instructions and new policy through the system so that all the drivers know what to do. Another detail is that strollers will be free to ride open, except for the 2 busiest hours of the day, from 7 AM until 9 AM. During those 2 hours the stroller will either need to be folded up or paid for on an additional ticket.
The new policy will be in effect on city routes (not inter-city) and on the Light-Rail.
