Gemilus Chessed as a way of abusing people

This is shocking.

I will start off by saying, I never before heard of this, but it seems there are some gemach apartments available in some Haredi areas for newlyweds to live temporarily. I do not know details, such as how many such apartments are available, how one qualifies to be able to make use of them, for how long can the newly married couple live in these apartments, and the like. I am trying to find out more about this, but it is irrelevant to the issue.

And now to the report.

It turns out that hidden cameras were discovered in two such gemach apartments in Bnei Braq that were used by newlyweds.

Somehow, the morning after the wedding one of the fathers came to the apartment and while there he somehow discovered the hidden cameras in the wall. He took apart the cameras and says he is filing a report with the police.

After that another gemach apartment was checked and cameras were discovered there as well, by an IT technician.

Kindness, gemilus chessed, righteousness, being used to cover up crimes and depravity. The owners of these apartments might have found a new and unique way, but we find the phenomenon often of righteousness and zealousness and over-kindness as a way of taking advantage of people.

Do people really do anything (at least, anything major) just to be nice with no personal benefit? There are definitely some people that do, but nto everybody. Be careful when using a gemach that you are not being taken advantage of.

    1. Really? You don't think the guy with the apartment could have bought himself a magazine and found a quiet 10 minutes, instead of all the effort to set up an apartment?

    2. obviously not. having this apartment makes them look like tzaddikim to the community. anyways, you never know what people are into. each person is into his own thing. Maybe magazines dont do it for these guys...

    3. There's no low enough, r'l. How low can they go, well, seems they reached down to the abyss.

    4. It's easy to bash the owner, but in reality, since these apartments were assumingly accessed by so many people, who really knows at this point? Magazines? You are showing your age. People have supercomputers in their pockets and can easily set up 'closed circuit' with something from Radio Shack (to show you my age)

  2. . . . Or it might still turn out that the hidden-cameras were placed by workers (without the owner's knowledge) and the workers either can access the camera remotely or plan to sneak back in to retrieve the footage. - ( but - no matter who did it: It's a horrible and disgusting thing to do.)

  3. Whatever the reason or whoever the perpetrator is, it just shows us what kind of society we have sunk to in Eretz Hakodesh and worldwide. We have sunk to the lowest denominator. Technology - the Tree of Good and Evil, where evil is outdoing the good.
