why separate swimming costs less (video)
it does nto really answer the question. the one suggestion is because there are so few hours available for spearate swimming. That means demand is high and supply is low so it should cost more, not less. for a membership it make sense because you are paying for less hours over the course of the year, but for a one-time entry pass it does not make sense.
The only thing I can think of, which is not mentioned, is trying to attract a lower socio-economic crowd to avail themselves of the pool requires lowering the price to make it attractive

No idea what they are talking about, at least in my neck of the woods.
ReplyDeleteIn the Modi'in area, the separate swimming pools in Nof Ayalon and Metatiyahu are not cheaper than the mixed swimming pools in Modi'in.
And the separate hours at the Iriya swimming pool is the same price as other hours, but much more crowded.
If anybody knows a cheaper separate swimming option in the greater Modi'in area, please let me know...
In my experience (Jerusalem area) the separate swimming is the same price and unbearably overcrowded, like sardines, or not available at all. Could be as you say, that these locations are trying to attract a populace that doesn't use their facilities. Maybe they opened up separate hours only recently?
ReplyDeleteIt makes sense for one-time as well. If my ticket gets me entry only for the three hours that it is separate, that is less value than a ticket that gets me in for a longer session.
ReplyDeleteThe swimming pool owner is looking at total revenue per hour. If the separate hours are more crowded, they can charge a bit less and nevertheless make more money. Also, the lower price incentivizes more people to come.
