Maran vs Maran
I have been wondering about the Shas use of Maran in their campaign.
My thoughts keep returning to wondering why Shas uses the imagery of Maran Rav Ovadia Yosef a lot, and not of Maran Rav Shalom Cohen at all.
I understand why to use Rav Ovadia's image and memory. It creates an emotional pull for many, perhaps a spiritual one in some sense. At least they think using Rav Ovadia might get them some voters.
But what about the new Maran? Why is he not used at all in the campaign? If they thought he was so great to deserve the title and position, which he surely is, why not use him to draw in the people as well?
