Satmar Rebbe on modern Israel

The Satmar Rebbe (I dont know which this is as the article does not specify and I dont care enough to look for it) went on a rant against Israel the other day.. I find a couple points of what he reportedly said worth pointing out and commenting on..

you can get the full rant on Matzav, but here are the things I want to mention:

1. The Rebbe said, "If we were truly in such danger in recent years, under threat from enemy nations, why did no one urge the public to flee Eretz Yisroel? The answer is clear—they caused the danger themselves."

This reminds me of the Holocaust era. Did community leaders urge the public to flee Hungary, Poland, Germany and other countries overtaken by the Nazis? Did the Satmar Rebbe at the time urge his adherents to flee? So did they cause the damage themselves?

2. The Rebbe said, "Without a state, there would be no decrees, no wars, and no draft of bnei yeshiva"...

And if my grandmother had wheels she'd be a bicycle

Obviously with no state there wouldnt be wars between Israel and her neighbors, and there wouldnt be an army or a draft, secular or haredi.. it doesnt take a genius to figure that out. But we have a state, it exists and isnt going away (as far as we can tell at this time). deal with reality.

    1. Why did no one flee? Because Jews in Israel were on their land and prepared to defend it because they loved it. They weren't gutless cowards prepared to abandon their homes and followers at the first sign of danger like someone we know.
    2. Right, so in 1929 there was no state, no decree, no war and no draft and yet the Arabs still wiped out the community of Hebon, a non-Zionist communist which predated the Arab invasion of Israel. There was no state in 1913 when the Russians decided to make mass pogroms after the Beilis trial. And there were no Zionists period when the French decided to humiliate Dreyfus and unleash anti-Semitism in France.
If one reads the history of the Hasidim, one quickly learns that the bigger rebbes were rich and lived off the poverty of their followers, never actually sharing in their deprivation but constantly asking them for more and more sacrifices. Hardly good role models.

    1. Zionism did not start in 1948
The Hebron massacre occurred after the Zionist congresses and Balfour declaration.
The Zionist were actively buying up land and securing their political entities and forming militias
So far, since the founding of the State of Israel around 25-30 thousand jews have been killed. How many jew were killed in palestine in the entire 1800s?
How many Jews were killed in pogroms in the entire 1800s?

    2. Tell us you know nothing about history while...telling us just that.

    3. Which part of the comment was factually wrong?

    4. Well, of course you're not spelling out the actual perverse beliefs you hold, which is that all Arab violence against Jews stems from Zionism, perhaps as some sort of divine "punishment" as well.

Because Muslims *loved* Jews right up until 1860 or so.

    5. You specifically criticized my knowledge of history
Why don't you explain to me was is factually wrong with my comment instead of giving me your opinion on my beliefs
No one said that Arabs loved the Jews, but it definitely wasn't the murderous situation we have today

    6. Of course it was. Muslims have been massacring Jews by the thousands since day one. Go read some history.

  2. .....don't forget Arabs decimating the Jewish population in Aza in 1929.
