Health food In Hospital Malls

The hospitals have been looking for ways to make more money off the captive audience they have sitting in their buildings, and have been opening shopping centers and mini-malls on premises. It is not just to visit when bored, but they even force the visitor to walk through the mall on the way in to the hospital, thus increasing the chances of buying gifts or food while walking in.

According to NRG, the Health Ministry is going to begin regulating what type of food establishments can offer their wares in such hospital malls. They will prohibit unhealthy food from being sold in these locations. The hospitals should be setting an example about healthy eating and living a healthy lifestyle, and having fast food establishments on location is the antithesis of that.

The new regulations will cover many aspects of the healthy food industry including type of food, packaging, nutritional content, aesthetics, hygiene, etc.

the hospitals seem to be opposed saying such regulations will make it impossible for many of the food establishments continuing their presence in these malls, and who knows if other, healthier, food establishments will pick up those empty spots and pay the high rent being paid by fast food joints.

Personally I think it is almost obscene the way they turned hospitals into malls, and they should really just be concentrating on health care and not on milking the public for more of its money. And once they are being allowed to milk us for more of our money, the restrictions to healthy food should be so basic it should not need to be regulated.

Iran or Egypt

Just a thought I was wondering about..

I am not sure which is the bigger threat right now - Iran with its threats of destroying Israel while it races to make a nuclear bomb or Egypt with its new president who is sending soldiers and tanks and anti-aircraft missiles into Sinai, against the conditions of the peace treaty with Israel.

Quote of The Day

Quote of The Day

Everybody should do what they can so that war should not break out with the Zionist regime, because even though the Zionist regime  would absorb the harshest strikes, Iran too would be harmed.... An Israeli attack on Iran would be the greatest crime against the Iranian nation..

  -- Ayatollah Yousef Saan'ai

I dont know if he is a marginal ayatollah or mainstream, but he is singing a different tune than the rest of them in iran...

SHI 360 for Jonathan Pollard (video)

SHI 360 for Jonathan Pollard

This is for Yonathan, uncovering, unraveling the vital information
Saving innocents from being left without any protection
civilian targets -- he exposed the secret that was kept
only to be abandoned by the same ones he helped

Iraq and Syria, Iran & Libya
plotting to attack with chemical and nuclear
ballistic missiles, terrorist attacks
and no one had the conscience to provide us with the facts

except Yonathan, but he was told to mind his own business
"don't talk about poisonous gas, they're getting nervous"
lets keep these israelis under US dependency
you know... that's the rule and the tendency

But know your history, 83, read the memorandum
Written understandings disappeared like a phantom
and the judge said it was ideology
but they still claimed "profit" was the terminology

now in a 12 by 8, life without parole
uncle sam got him like a knife into the soul
they yelled "Espionage - punishment should be strife"
but no one ever got life!!!

He hould be released, enough is enough, It's the just thing to do

they said "hide in the embassy, hurry up... run"
the feds were outside with cuffs and shotguns
betrayed by his own, arrested by his peers
his claims fell upon shut eyes and deaf ears

he never brought harm to the red, white, and blue
only his concern for the white and the blue
never compromised intel - they all knew
never charged with treason - and this is all true

did you know? yonathan never had a trial
they asked him for a plea and it was filed
to save them the embarrassment, he fully cooperated
but they all flipped the script and the plea they violated

Yonathan was indicted for only one thing
passing information to the allies' hands
saved lives, never jeopardised the home range
but in came Casper - and then it all changed

He hould be released, enough is enough, It's the just thing to do

Mr. Secretary, mercenary, came out random
with the unexpected, false claims memorandum
handed to the judge just prior to sentence
violating every right of the defendant

Weinberger claimed "treason, codes compromised"
but he never had access, it was classified
So Weinberger pushed for life in prison
violating the agreement - and that's the real treason!

Yonathan saw the files only one time
before being dragged and pushed by "onetime"
no chance for rebuttal, no chance to fight
and that's what they call constitutional rights???

hostile spies - doing 2 to 4 years
and they're still rejecting all of Yonathan's appeals???
Yonathan is locked up since 85
Because Yonathan saved innocent lives!

Attacking Iran

A Guest Post by Dr. Harold Goldmeier

harold.goldmeier@gmail.com
The writer is a former Research and Teaching Fellow at Harvard University where he received his doctorate. He served in the administrations of three U. S. Governors, is Managing Director of a business marketing and development company after selling his companies in America. He consults on business, education, and community development matters. His writings frequently appear on the blog Life in Israel, on other blogs, and publications.

The press is saturated with jabber about Israel attacking Iran to setback its ability to launch a nuclear attack on Israel.

Israel says it is capable and ready to launch a preventive strike against Iran, but is showing great restraint and respect to the U.N., America, and Europe by waiting; she is giving sanctions and negotiations a chance to dissuade Iran--all to no likely avail.

Israel was justified attacking Egypt to keep the Suez Canal open, and in 1967 when the Arab states prepared to attack Israel from multiple directions. The Yom Kippur War Israel nearly lost is a text book case of what happens when a nation does not take preemptive action to protect against existential hostile developments and military build ups. This week Iran again called for Israel's annihilation-not just for Israel to give back land, and sponsored Israel Annihilation Day parades in cities around the world.

Israel's restraint has nothing to do with election considerations in America. The world has been talking about this for years prior to the current presidential race. That is an anti-Israel canard spewed by regular critics of the Netanyahu government.  Nobody, not the government, not the people, not the military want a war. Israel is thriving on a cold peace with her neighbors. It manages terrorist incursions. The economy steams ahead, and the real estate market bubbles and boils creating new millionaires everyday. The American government is pressuring her to wait; as a good friend of America and other Western nations Israel is risking a lot keeping its attack plans tucked away, while Iran develops nuclear weapons to be launched on her new long range missiles. Even Arab governments urge attacks on Iran, because they fear her maniacal, megalomaniac leaders.

President Obama owes it to the American people to have Congress debate America's role in stopping a nuclear armed Iran from terrorizing the world. The time is over for American policy on this matter being debated in the Oval Office and op-ed columns. This matter may require a declaration of war, and the debate should not be delayed any longer or the continuing subject of banal prattle.  Supporting an Israeli attack, or an American war with Iran deserves hearings before elected officials. European nations and Britain should also debate the matter. Israel's patience, restraint, and time, are running thin, as Iran skirts on the brink of actually becoming a nuclear warmonger, evermore boisterous in its threats to Israel, increasing evidence of financial and material support for terror acts around the world, and sinister undermining of other Arab governments. Israel's restraint and deference to America has brought us to this juncture, not any contrivance to interfere with an election. Rolling those dice would be just stupid, and Netanyahu is not a stupid man.

Wash Your Hands Technology

Another really cool Israeli invention is one that will track the hand-washing behavior of medical practitioners.

The invention is a digital bracelet that "connects" to soad dispensers that have sensors embedded within. If the practitioner did not wash his hands in between patients, a tiny red LED on the bracelet will light up to remind him to do so.

Not only will the bracelet remind the practitioner to wash his hands, and perhaps alert the incoming patient if the practitioner has or has not done so, but the bracelet and dispenser combo will also send all that tracked and logged information to hospital management.
(source: Mashable)

Whatever works to improve medical care, even something as simple as a reminder to wash your hands....

I would like to see them make this technology available to households. I am sure there are lots of parents who would love to be able to know if the kids washed ther hands..

Police and Agudah Fighting About Who Should Fight Crime

I find this interchange shocking. In light of the Leiby Kletsky murder, the State of New York decided to spend a million dollars installing 150 security cameras around certain neighborhoods of Brooklyn in order to help keep the kids safe. if anything should God forbid happen, the cameras would quickly help the police find the perpetrator, and also knowing there are so many cameras and probably very few blind spots would be a deterrent to such violent crime.

The cameras have yet to be installed due to a dispute over who will operate them. The Shomrim people did not want the police to have full access to the videos, out of fear that it would hinder their efforts to keep incidents of domestic violence quiet. The police, on the other hand, don't believe there should be a filter between the police and a victim or evidence of a crime.

Assemblyman Dov Hikind came up with a solution appointing the Agudah as the administrators of the video system, but that is held up as well out of concerns due to Agudah's official position of not going to authorities with knowledge of a crime (specifically the crimes of domestic violence) but going to a rav who would then decide whether the police can be brought in.
(sources: NY Daily News, VIN)

I don't even understand the hava amina, the suggestion that the state might invest a million dollars in surveillance cameras and then give it to a private organization to run. It's precarious enough when the government does it, with all the claims of "big brother" and invasion of privacy, but then to think that a private organization should have access to all that video footage? What are they thinking?? And that is without even taking into account the criminal issues involved of why would they think the police would let them agree to  determine crime? And the chutzpah to say in public that we dont want the police finding out about our domestic violence issues...

The Lack Of Disrimination In Emannuel Bites Again..

I love irony, but it's unfortunate when it comes at the expense of hurting a person.

2 years ago was the major issue of discrimination in a number of schools, and the situation came to a head in Emannuel when the "hassidic school" was discovered to be discriminating against Sefardim and not accepting their children. There was a quota of sefardim that had been accepted, and they were paraded about declaring that that is proof that there is no discrimination. They got involved despite the sefardi rabbonim telling them not go get involved and not to take sides in the matter, but they probably had to in order for their kids not to be thrown out. One of them was even one of the parents who went to jail because of the discrimination. The weird situation of a sefardi parent in an ashkenazi school going to jail due to discrimination against sefardim.

Anyway, this fellow moved last year to Tel Tzion. The irony of the story, which unfortunately came at his expense, is that while in Emannuel he insisted there was no discrimination because he was fortunate enough to have been one of the few sefardim who had been accepted, when he arrived in tel Tzion he found himself at the other end of the issue - suddenly he didnt make the quota and his kids werent accepted into the ashkenazi school He got them in after a bit, after askanim got involved and pressured them to accept his kids, which they eventually agreed to on condition that he not get involved in any public activity...
(source: Kikar)

I love the irony, but I feel bad for this guy who just wanted to get his kids into a school and not make waves...

Israel Equipment On Mars

I think it is really cool that aboard the NASA Curiosity rover on Mars right now is a piece of equipment that is crucial to the mission that was made by an Israeli company.

According to Ynetnews there is a refridgerator on board the rover that was made by an Israeli company. This fridge is not for keeping anybody's beer cold (maybe if the rover wants to offer some hospitality to a Martian?) or meat fresh, but it is a special miniature cooler that is designed to reach very low temperatures. The purpose of the cooler is to keep a certain detector cold, at a temperature of minus 173 degrees Celcius (that's minus 279 in Farenheit), in order for it to function properly and identify Mars materials.

How did it get there?
According to Yedioth Ahronoth, in 2005, an American buyer approached Ricor seeking to purchase a few of the company cryocoolers. The buyer informed Ricor that the coolers were intented for a NASA research assignment to Mars.
"When it was announced that the Curiosity had landed on Mars, we contacted the buyer, who confirmed that the Israeli cooler was indeed in Mars. Everyone in the factory was excited. Our 170 employees were all very proud," Ricor's marketing manager Yoav Zur said.
Now some countries will probably accuse Israel of occupying Mars, by having Zionist equipment up there, and the Great Devil, America, for collaborating with the Zionists...

A New Tzniyus Pashkevil

It's about time. A pashkevil about tzniyus, but one not like any you have seen before.. this one forbids tight clothing and says that those who wear them are sinners and cause others to sin...

Wait. What do you mean this one is like none you have seen before? that is the basis for almost every tzniyus pashkevil ever pasted up on a wall! Nothing new and unique about that!

What's new about this pashkevil's message is that it is directed at men.

If the women were starting to feel picked on, everything is their fault, they are always the ones who have to hide themselves or change their style, now they can sit back and relax while it's the mens turn to be picked on for tzniyus issues!

The pashkevil being signed by sefardic rabbonim seems to indicate that the problem is one that afflicts the sefardi boys and men, and not necessarily the ashkenazi. Either it is a matter of style, or else the ashkenazi rabbonim just haven't caught up yet. Though it is interesting that the Sefardi rabbonim are basing half (one of two reasons) of their statement on the Rama.

The pashkevil says that recently the modesty of mens dress also needs strengthening and repair... men are obligated by the Torah to dress modestly in wide and modest clothing. It is a Torah prohibition to dress in pants that are tight against the body as the goyim wear.. and wearing tight pants is prohibited because of that which is said by the Rama... those who dress so are sinners and cause others to sin....
