Sammy Ofer Conspiracy Theories

With Sammy Ofer "suddenly" dropping dead, just as his shipping company is at the heart of a juicy scandal with his ships being spotted at ports in Iran, the door has opened for salacious conspiracy theories.

The best conspiracy theories so far:

  1. Sammy Ofer is not really dead. Rather he has gone into hiding. Perhaps this will derail the trial. Perhaps certain secrets won't need to be revealed, even if the trial and investigation continue.
  2. Sammy Ofer was knocked off, so certain things would stay secret. Did the government knock him off? His brother? The Iranians? someone else?
I hope investigative journalist and conspiracy theorist Barry Chamish gets to work on this...

Of course it is possible he just died. He was 89 years old, after all.

Do you have any other good conspiracy theories about Sammy Ofer's death??

  1. Is Jpost the only outlet that's reporting it a suicide?

"Elderly Ofer Brother Group co-owner found dead in his Tel Aviv apartment; Ofer owned one of the world's largest private shipping companies, but ended his life in controversy over trade with Iran."

  2. I read somewhere that his wife said he was sick the past few years and he just passed on. It looks suspicious, but I also read that his ship brought Mossad agents to Persia. The govt said he didn't do anything wrong. Why are people jumping on this and making it a mystery. It was in Friday's JPost. (it's late, I hope I got this straight, will recheck tomorrow).

    His brother is still alive!

  3. a reporter told me that a few weeks ago, shortly before the iran story broke, ofer opened an office in ramallah. the iran story was leaked to shut this office down.

  5. Neshama - another option is that it was natural. but that would not get mentioned in a post about a conspiracy around his death.

I am 100% confident that he used his ships to do things for the government and Mossad over the years.

  7. This may be the answer, and Ofer, being frail now, just was not going to go thru the public and private grueling investigating that Israeli media and govt politicians are known to cause.

But suicide, if that and not 'elimination', comes from despair and embarrassment. This must be too highly sensitive to expose. Just think back to the Altalena and other early operations.

  8. Oops, left out the quote

"On Monday, MK Arye Eldad (National Union):

“It may be that the relative silence coming out of the government and the Ofer brothers is because of the sensitive nature of the deeds, maybe things are more complicated than meets the eye,” Eldad said.

  9. Don't know. but if you look at the report in ynet, ofer was helping elite israeli units in iran. if that is the case, than the question is why the heck did hilary come down on ofer for this? was this a warning to israel to stop what ever they are doing? or was the state department simply being stupid?
