Eagle Attacks Snake, Snake Attacks Eagle

A photographer went out to photograph the Hiwiai Eagles opening of the hunting season near Moshav Kidma. "Hiwaiai is my transliteration form the Hebrew. According to Wikipedia, the Hiwiai eagle is known as the Circaetus, and also known as the Snake Eagle.

The photographer stumbled upon a very rare sight, and got a few fascinating pictures of it. The eagle had caught a snake and had begun eating it. The snake, known as the Coluber snake, didn't go down easy, but fought back. The snake wrapped it's body around the neck of the eagle and was choking it to death.

The photographer realized the eagle was going to lose the fight, and decided he had to intervene. Despite preferring not to intervene in nature, here he felt it was important to save the eagle, considering how endangered eagles are and how they already have to deal with so many threats. He called over his tractor driver, and after determining that the snake was not poisonous, they began trying to release the eagle from the snake's grasp.

They successfully released the eagle, killing the snake in the process. The eagle didn't realize they were trying to help, and while they were attempting the rescue it tried to attack them. (source: Ynet)

All's well that ends well. The eagle was released and quickly flew away, and the photographer got a few, but only a few, pictures...

    1. You can try untying a snake that's tightly wrapped around something without hurting it yourself. See how easy that would be.

    2. He shouldn't have interfered in the first place.
