Haaretz hits a new low

I just lost whatever respect I had for Haaretz... Even though they were involved in stealing military documents...even though they have always been extreme left-wing...even though..even though..even though...

But now they have hit a new low...

They actually published a story using the National Enquirer as their source.

That's right. They picked up a story from the National Enquirer. And now they probably still expect to be taken seriously...

  3. I agree that the National Inquirer is a rag. But don't forget that their exposee of John Edwards was spot-on and put them in consideration for a Pulitzer prize. I'm not as quick to dismiss them as I used to be.

  4. Rafi,

I know you've been out of the States for a long time, but the enquirer has become the rag that breaks all the stories that the real newspapers wont. Aside from the edwards story that have scooped the real newspapers on dozens of others major stories as well.

Sure they are still full of rumors and junk, but the real newspapers have become more and more like rags while the rags have become more like real newspapers.

  5. and, if you dont want a newspaper that publishes when their govt's military is breaking the law and covering up, then why would you put down papers like the national enquirer?

I can understand if you bristle at their left wing bias, but revealing when your govt is breaking laws is exactly what a newspaper is supposed to do, regardless of their bias.

Its funny though, to read the right wing rags here in the states, like the jewish press etc, and read charediim who denounce the "state" of Israel, change their tune and denounce haaretz for revealing secrets about a state that the charediim despise.

    go figger

  6. They're not claiming it's true, but a report like this is genuine news. It makes sense to report it. If it turns out to have some validity, they'll have at least mentioned it.

  7. Way - dont despise the State. Just the opposite. Also, despite the left wing bias, haaretz is the Israel news site I read most regularly, because I dont like the right wing papers. I check them out, but I generally get my news from haaretz.

And there is a difference between reporting news about the govt illegal activities, and between stealing classified military documents. Especially in a country like Israel where we are in a constant state of war and there are a lot of ramifications to every secret detail that is leaked...

  8. not you, but some of the writers in the jewish press, as an example, and a significant segment of their readers as a demographic do not care for the state.
