Quote Of The Day

Quote Of The Day

It is disturbing that Gilad Shalit chose to go to the beach his first Shabbos after getting home rather than going to bentch gomel in shul. How is it possible that a person in distress in captivity for over 5 years didn't say the birkat hagomel? In captivity he didnt pray to someone? He didn't hope that someone would save him? Shalit should come, without media, and bentch gomel. These are people that have come closer, people that want Judaism.

Maybe, maybe he did do that - without media!

  2. You're right, Minister Nehari. So did you invite him? Or is your contribution just to criticize him?

  3. Rav Ovadya was instructing Nehari to bring Gilad over and we'll talk to him and be makerav him...

  4. Should he be thankful for God for setting him free? And what about Him putting him in captivity in the first place?

  5. Cheski - yes, he should be thankful for that too. כשם שמברכים על הטוב...

But then, I wouldn't presume to lecture him on the subject. He has been through an trauma that we cannot even begin to understand. The mitzva right now is to keep quiet and let him come to terms with what happened.

  6. I think that after such a traumatic event you cannot run and push G-d onto him. After the holocaust many people came closer to G-d but many people went in the other direction. We, who have not gone through it cannot judge.
