Quote of the Day
Women have a limited capacity for spirituality. They can reach a medium level of spirituality. There’s no such thing as spiritual women. It’s just not true. It’s not a failure on women’s part, it’s just that nobody is expecting them to reach certain heights spiritually.
They are weak-minded. They just babble, that’s it. Women’s babble...Just because they send them en masse to universities they’re suddenly all great geniuses? No! Yes, there are some CEOs here and there, girlillas.
-- Rav Yosef Kelner, in a yeshiva in Eli while teaching a class on marriage and family issues. He has apologized for this.
wow. This is his approach and they had him teaching a class to young men about marriage and how to relate to their wives?
I always thought that classic approach is that women are far more spiritual than men, which is why they need less mitzvos.

He's right. Woman is traditionnally excluded from religion. For woman, it is the summum of man's power in religion. For man, it is simply normal because for a long time, because... Is this point of view schizophrenic ? Maybe. But my idea is that women have other sectors where they have power so why do they fight for sectors where men have power ? Do they want to practise ataraxy ? Do they want men loose their power ? Do they want more power ? Do they want cancellation of human inductive power ? I am not sure...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the sources, Rafi. Oy.
ReplyDeleteThis Rav needs to go back and study up more. Our Sages even tell us that women are on a 'higher' spiritual level than men! Men are commanded with most of the ritual mitzvot and women have their different roles but are usually always more attuned on a higher level with their connection to H'. The trouble with the modern day thinking is that women are searching in the wrong places when they have the real power of being the foundation of the home. Any intelligent man knows that and needs to appreciate her special gifts from H', but this era of confusion has messed up everyone, including those who should know better, such as 'rabbis',
ReplyDeleteForget all that.
ReplyDeleteHe's coming to lose his contract training tzahal recruits.
Simple refutation: Miriam ha Neviah. Acc. to the Rambam and many others, nevuah is given only to spiritually great people.
