Teen Drinking On Purim

This is an old video, but the message is worth repeating right before Purim...



Obviously the problem is not just with teens drinking. Adults drink too and sometimes get irresponsible.

On that note, bechadrei is reporting the after last Purim Rav Shteinman wrote a letter, in response to complaints about yeshiva boys collecting funds on Purim for yeshivas and acting inappropriately.

The letter is due to be released before Purim, and Bechadrei published a copy of it (was it released or is Bechadrei leaking it?). Rav Shteinman writes that we were given the mitzva of mishloach manos as a way of doing chessed with other people. Yet, some look more for the mitzva of "Ad D'lo Yada" and that has some negative aspect to it.. There is also room to suspect that they do it in a way that is a chilul hashem.. and they are like armed robbers that force people to give, and it is clear that through this we are not fulfilling the intent of the sages in their decrees regarding the day.... "

I say don't give on Purim to groups who act inappropriately, underage drinking, and the like. And it will even help for the future to note the names of the institutions being collected for and inform them why you did not give.
