Fast For Rav Elyashiv
Due to Rav Elyashiv's failed health and deteriorating situation, Rav Chaim Kanievsky has requested, according to statements published in the 3 daily Haredi newspapers, that people accept upon themselves to fast tomorrow, Thursday - the last day of the special "Shovavim period", for the health of Rav Elyashiv.
Rav Kanievsky said that the best is for people to accept a full-day fast, but those who cannot should at least fast for half a day. As well, only someone who's regular learning schedule will not be affected should fast. One who will not be able to maintain his regular learning, should not fast.
And to remind you, A TehillimRing was started for יוסף שלום בן חיה מושא

I dont mean this in any disparaging way - I'd just like to understand. Harav is 101 years old, and this is the way of the world that one gets older etc. What are we expecting exactly?
ReplyDeletecompletely agree with anon comment.is it me or does anyone else feel like orthodox judaism has completely bypassed them?

ReplyDeleteWhat about if fasting will affect our work? Should we give our bosses less than what HaShem asks of us?
See my post Should we be davening for R' Elyashiv to live?
ReplyDeleteIf you weren't as ignorant about what Gedoilim, and especially our greatest Gadol,R' Elyashiv, do for us, you wouldn't make such a stupid comment. You've clearly removed yourself from the Tzibur of Klal Yisroel so maybe just fast tomorrow to try to regain entrance... and if that doesn't matter to you then don't waste your time blogging on a Jewish blog - its not your place!
ReplyDeleteReally, is R' Elyashiv greater then R' Yehuda Hanasi? Let's put things in a little perspective. Take a look at this post, Extraordinarily Extravagant Exaggerations About Rav Elyashiv, by R' Slifkin.

ReplyDeleteWhat did Rav Elyashiv do for us this year?
Let the man die in peace, i'm sure there are many things up in shamayim that need to be outlawed.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone with an IQ > 10 really believe that not eating will someone "change" god's "mind" about whether or not he should "make someone die". like he's going i'm going to kill him on Tuesday, o wait Chaim from Pittsburgh and Steve from Houston didn't eat today, let's make that Friday.
u guys need a dose of reality. bad
