Did you lose 18,000 NIS?

Did you lose 18,000 NIS?

If you made a simcha recently at the "Troya" hall in Ashdod, you might want to be in touch with the management of the hall. During renovations they found an envelope containing 18,000 NIS and a note saying "mazel tov!"... Management is looking for the recently married couple that this might belong to.. if it is not claimed soon, it will be donated to an organization called "Rechashei Lev" that helps children with cancer..

  1. While this is a nice story, whoever claims it risks being branded as having "taken" NIS 18,000 from children battling cancer. It may have been better for the hall to have been less specific about where the money would go.

    1. Since it's in an envelope which says "Mazal Tov", it's a gift, and since it's still at the hall, it's very likely that the owners (i.e., the bride and groom) never got it. The people who can identify it (the givers) may not realize that it's missing. So in this case they need to specify how much is in there, so that the original givers can identify it and let the hall know who it should go to.

    2. The handwriting is another siman.
I hope for the hall's sake they have contacted their recent clients so that they could also reach out to guests. It was a weenie move to announce the alternate recipients, because that organization is praying hard no one turns up, but I'm not running to judge them on that, probably didn't think that through.

  3. 1. the amount announced in the news might not be accurate. the amount could still be a siman.
    2. the married couple might not even know about it, as they might never have seen it. announcing the amount could cause the guest who gave it to think it was his gift and contact them.
    3. maybe they announced the alternate recipient because they have been looking for a long time with no success and are almost ready to give up. We dont know when it was found, though it seems to be recent we dont know how recent...
