The Jewish Elvis
Really? Lipa Schmeltzer is now being called "The Jewish Elvis", or "The Jewish world's answer to Elvis Presley"? (source: JC.com)
Really?
Besides for the fact that it seems a little distasteful that he has been capitalizing on this tragedy with such major promotion of himself since the day after the murder was discovered, hopefully his intentions were pure and he was really motivated by an outpouring of emotion. Personally, I keep cringing at Lipa's song in memory of Leiby Kletsky every time I see it posted somewhere.

Back in the early 1990's I was doing an elective at Beilinson Hospital in Petach Tikvah and went to a social event for foreign med students. The organizer told us we'd be going to a concert in a couple of weeks in Arad to see Mashina. When asked what kind of band they were he hemmed and hawed and then said "Well, a little like Metallica?"
ReplyDeleteAs for Lipa being the Jewish Elvis, does this mean he's in for weight gain, a velvet tallis and tassels? Oh wait, he has those already....
and dont forget the drugs
ReplyDeleteA new song just in time for the 3 weeks?
ReplyDeleteSomeone once told me about one of those gadol-biography books, and that the author had been compiling notes and the book was published very quickly.
A well-meaning effort but awkward too.
