get trained to be a train conductor in Israel
For the first time ever, the Israel Trains Authority is opening a course to train (pun only sort of intended) train drivers who will immediately qualify to drive trains.
Until now, becoming a train driver was a lengthy and staggered process. First you would become an assistant driver on cargo trains, then you would advance to driver of cargo trains, then eventually you'd make it to the final step of becoming a driver for passenger trains. Supposedly the lengthy process discouraged women from applying for the courses.
This new course will train 36 new drivers of passenger trains. So far hundreds of men and 20 women have applied. The course will be supervised by the Ministry of Transportation, and the course will consist of different levels by which candidates will be cut based on performance.

So, if you are a looking for a career, you might want to try applying for this..
Another thing to consider - the conductor of your train - he might just be a new driver. Check first to see if there is a "new driver" sign on the back of the train you get on...
