MK Yitzchak Kroizer (Otzma Yehudit) has proposed a law that make "protection" illegal and punishable. Protection, not protrexia. Israel runs on protexia.

The law, if it should pass, will make protection - providing protection and security services  using threats, scare tactics, deceit and extortion punishable with a prison sentence of up to 7 years, and the sentence would not be allowed to be reduced by 3 years or more. Somebody who collects "protection" money would get up to tern years of prison, and also no more than 3 years could be knocked off the sentence, even for good behavior.

The big complaint about this issue is in the south of Israel and in the Galilee as well, especially with Bedouins, among others. I would be happy for this to go through if it is enforced. I do think there are enough laws already but not enough enforcement, and they might be able to resolve it somewhat already by enforcing what is already on the books, but I am still good with this. I hope they use it in Jerusalem and Bnei Braq as well and put away the people burning down cellphone shops in Geula and Bnei Braq.
