Troll of the Day

this was just too funny to pass up...

In light of the coalition agreements that would allow any rav to nominate himself for positions that require academic degrees - today in the Knesset I said that they should equally allow the opposite and that I have decide to put forth my candidacy for the position of Sephardic Chief Rabbi, being that I am an academic and also want the authority to appoint the Chief Rabbi of the IDF.

  -- MK Avigdor Lieberman

funny, though it is bad timing with the bombshell of the Deri decision. Who is listening to anybody talk about anything else right now?

  1. He can apply for sure, he just won't get it. Unlike people without an academic degree, who can't even apply, to jobs that in no way require anything that was learnt in the degree. That is the difference.

    1. Ever since intelligence tests were banned, a degree is a stand-in for demonstrating you have a certain level of intelligence, and that you know certain things, like English and math.

    2. Well yes, that's exactly the point of the change. Because it's no longer a good stand-in, because there are other reasons people don't have a degree (i.e. religious ones).

Glad you agree on that, but I'm not sure what your point about English and math is, since a) not every degree includes English and math, and b) not every job that requires a degree, requires English and math.
