This is a rediculously stupid and pointless video (and has been circulating for a while now). In a college with over 35,000 students, they managed to find 8 or 9 who were ignorant of facts which are important to Jews, or at least to Jews who care about Israel. Consider the following:
- We don't know how many people were interviewed overall, and what their responses were. It could be that an overwhelming majority of people knew all or most of the answers, but we'll never know.
- We don't know if the people shown are even students at UCLA, or people passing through, visiting high school seniors, janitorial staff, etc.
- There's no parallel video demonstrating how many people at SWU know "basic facts" about other regions in the world, such as Western Africa, the Pacific Rim, South America, etc.
BTW, the question about the number of Muslim countries in the world is pretty pointless. Does anyone know how many Christian countries there are? Or Hindu? Or what the religious affiliations of Japan or China (surely two very important countries to people in the US) are? The guy who guessed a number that wasn't one of the choices was pretty funny, and just goes to show that people are stupid (or apathetic) in general.
or how many of us know about Western Africa, the Pacific Rim, etc.
but you have to admit it was amusing that one of these ignorant souls wants to work at the UN in international relations. guess she'll fit in very well....
Mark Schiff is a riot in any event. I saw him open for Jerry Seinfeld about 8 years ago. Mark was much funnier than the headliner. [Not to mention he performed at Chez Crown - Arie Crown's annual fundraiser - like 20 years ago.]
