Flying In To Delegitimize Israel
I am not sure why leftists who try to delegitimize Israel think that Israel must allow them to do whatever they want. they think that if Israel takes any steps to prepare for a delegitimization campaign it must mean israel is weak, Israel is afraid, Israel has what to hide, Israel must be guilty.
the most famous of their plans recently has been sending flotillas to Gaza. When Israel has thwarted, or prepared to thwart, the flotillas, the leftists who supported the flotillas criticized Israel suggesting that Israel is guilty/hiding something/weak or else they would just let the flotillas in.
the latest campaign is going to be an "invasion" on Israel tomorrow. because the last flotilla kind of fell apart, they decided to fly a bunch of activists in to Israel. They would descend upon Israel and then go to the West Bank and visit Palestinians there, and create provocations.
personally I dont see what the big deal is. Let them fly in, let them visit people in the West Bank (they didnt say Gaza, which is controlled by Hamas), let them spend money that Israel will collect taxes on. Who cares?
However, Israel decided to prepare and prevent this from happening as much as they can, with the knowledge that they will not be able to stop everybody from getting in. The response of the leftists involved is that Israel must be scared, Israel must be weak, otherwise they would just let us in.
That is not true. Every country restricts what visitors they let in. Some do it by forcing visas, and rejecting visa applications from people they dont want to let in. Other times, when a visa cannot be rejected, such as when coming from a country from which no visa is required, other methods must be used - turning people back at the airport, for example.
When a country feels it is being targeted in a campaign of delegitimization, that country has a right, even a responsibility to act. That action is not indicative of being weak, or being guilty.
That action is indicative of being a strong sovereign nation.

As George Jonas wrote in The National Post this morning, Israel is the one country is the world that is not allowed to defend itself.
ReplyDeleteAt any rate, there is a perfect way to deal with these idiots. First, have the airport workers go on strike. Then tell them they need a pass to go to the "West Bank" and that they need to go to a bank to get it. By the time they've survived the slowed lines in the airport and the interminable wait in the bank their vacation time will be up and they'll have to go home.
Hassan - I dont take that as an insult or an attack. I take it as praise.
ReplyDeleteGarnel - you mean treat them like citizens.. :-)
ReplyDeletejust joking. driving them mad by wasting their time might just work!
According to reports, At BG airport they were planning to list their destination as "Palestine", not israel, and refuse authority from israeli immigration.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why this is an effective form of protest. The Police should just have plenty of police vans available to round them up as soon as they get off the plane, give them a week vacation in a prison cell (with full rights includiong access to lawyers and embassy officials), and then if they can buy themselves a ticket out of here, take them back to the airport and escort them onto the plane.
Make sure that during their time here they have no access to journalists or the Internet. And keep video record of the way that they are treated so we can refute false claims about abuse at the hands of Israel's Finest.
This guy Hassaan sounds pretty envious. Maybe he should get his compatriots to start being productive.

ReplyDeleteThey will simply be deported. A sovereign country has the absolute right to control its borders. If they want come to Israel as tourists, they are subject to its laws. If they want to visit the PA, they can be given a special stamp and told to fly to Jordan and enter via the Allenby Bridge. They do not have the right to enter Israel whenever they want. Israel doesn't want provocateurs who come looking to stir up trouble.
