Minister Naftali Bennet appointed himself yesterday to a new ministerial position. Bennet tailored the ministry himself, and claimed it for himself. He appointed himself, via an announcement on his Facebook page, as Minister of the Druze Community.

The surprising thing is that Minister Yair Lapid did not protest the appointment. Lapid has been vociferous about keeping the number of ministers at no higher than 18 (19 really), and about keeping the balance of positions in government even between all the relevant parties. With Bennet taking a new ministry, he is adding one and taking more power and not balancing it for Lapid.

Maybe Lapid let it slide because they are brothers..
