The Jewish Protest Of Rising Fuel Prices

While the countries around us are all rioting due to poverty, rising price of fuel, along with the fact that they are tired of being oppressed by dictators, rising prices of fuel in Israel don't really seem to make much of a mark.

The price of gasoline is at another unprecedented high, having recently been raised to 7.26 NIS per liter of regular unleaded, with concerns that it might still go up to 8 NIS because of the unrest in the Arab countries...

So, while high prices is one of the causes of rioting in the streets in Arab countries, in our Jewish country we have other ways to protest. Most of us just grumble and move on (the price of having a decent economy), while the Chasdei Naomi organization found a unique way to express their frustration and concern - they got hold of a number of "horse and buggies" for a while and spent a few hours distributing their food to the poor via the  old fashioned ghetto car.

It is not just gasoline though, as all fuel prices have been raised, making it more expensive to run electricity, production lines will become more expensive causing prices to rise, to fill your car, to do anything basically. Some of us will be hurt by the increasingly high prices, but Chasdei Naomi is worried about the poor people who will not be able to manage and will not be able to afford heating or buying even basic food.

  1. Maybe in a few years the electric company will use gas for electricity generation and it will be much cheaper?
