Congratulations to Yitzchak Shapira, son of former MK Rabbi Avraham Yosef Shapira, who is being awarded with the appointment as Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

The queen of England has decided to so honor Shapira due to his efforts on behalf of the Haredi community and his work in strengthening the ties between Britain and the Haredi community.

I don't know what he did, but whatever it was it must have been important to be deserving of such an honor! Whatever it was, he clearly has lived a life of kiddush hashem.

  1. You mean Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth of Great Britain and the Commonwealth. Since 1707 there has not been a king or queen of England.

  3. And to be honest the Queen does not really choose who gets the award, its given in her name but the actual choices are made by the government

  4. Of the United Kingdom and all her realms and territories, Head of the Commonwealth. There hasn't been a King or Queen of Great Britain since 1801. :-)
