Flotilla Spinoffs

2 interesting spinoffs of the flotilla debacle are being developed right now, and will make the next few days interesting.

The first item is a report on Israel News that a convoy of cars - a land based "flotilla, if you must - has gotten together in Turkey, and is preparing by the Syrian border to drive towards Israel and enter Israel via the Golan Heights in a few days.

This is interesting because it is not like trying to enter a country that wants them but is blocked by a blockade. they would be trying to enter into Israel. I assume they did not get visas to enter and are simply planning on running the border. Meaning they will probably get shot, just like anybody trying to enter Israel from Syria would be.

The second item is a group called the Free Kurdistan Movement who have put out the following press releases, and started a Facebook group to draw support, "Free Kurdistan Movement, a human rights group that is planning the first international flotilla and motor convoy to reach Turkish-occupied Kurdistan. We want to break the siege of Kurdistan. We want to raise international awareness about the prison-like closure of Kurdistan and pressure the international community to review its sanctions policy and end its support for continued Turkish occupation."

I wonder how Turkey would deal with them when they approach Turkish, er Kurdistan, territorial waters... Let's hope they raise enough money quickly for a flotilla so we can see what happens with this...

  1. Correction. No Kurdistan territorial waters.
    Kurdistan is a land-locked country.

  2. it really is the same because Gaza also has no territorial waters. As far as I know, Israel pulled out of Gaza but retained control of the water and airspace. So we dont control their land, but the water and air is ours. so Gaza, and Kurdistan, do not have their own water, yet their is still a naval blockade.

  3. They should also organize a flotilla to the Greeks in Turkish-occupied Northern Cyprus.
