To make a suggestion ( and it is not an opinion), this may very well be a response to Rabbi Lippman's T-shirts and Bet Shemesh for Zionists campaign. Democratically speaking, we cannot condemn the posters if the other side is using the same tactics. BTW, Rabbi Lippman, when putting out your postings, you always address Masorti, Chiloni and Dati Leumi. have you ever thought of including the large body of Haredi "light" Jews who reside in RBS. After all, isn't that where you hold? I'm talking about Magen Avos-type parents who don't ally with the kanoim, who might very well support you, who voted for Shalom Lerner and are now excluded by your campaigning. I'm sure all those people you spent Pesach with at the Kinar call themselves Haredi.
JMom - I havent seen the shirts, but I saw his emails. His tshirts did not say anything about hating haredim, or hating neturei karta, or hating extremists. They simply said Bet Shemesh Tzonists or something like that... so this isnt really equivalent, but it still could be in response to it, saying all those people wearing those shirts are hated by Jews..
your recommendation is good though. he does not directly include "haredi lite", or whatever you want to call most people, or at least most of the anglos, and perhaps he should. And if he did, many more people would likely join.
I sent those pictures to Rafi. The tee shirts say:
בית שמש ציונית מאז ולתמיד
A "normal" response might be "Beit Shemesh is not Zionist".
These signs say "HATE" in three languages. There's no comparison whatsoever. And to put up signs about hating other Jews, davka during the 3 weeks???
The people who did this have removed themselves from Am Yisrael. However, what bothers me more is the people who walk by not touching these signs.
If there were a sign that said "Jews Hate Chareidim" in my neighborhood it wouldn't last for 5 minutes. I know for sure that I would rip it down myself.
Menchem, Be careful out there. The signs will not come down quickly - sticky and all - and you don't want to be "caught" in the act. You might want to plaster it over with a blank sticker or the like.

ReplyDeleteThis campaign is a response to the mayor who said he is no zionist.
