The BBC interviewer does not understand what "proportionate" means in International Law, and it is too bad that Bennett did not set him straight.
Proportionate means you can only use so much force as is necessary to remove a threat.
"Proportionate" does NOT mean that the suffering has to be equal on both sides.
Acc. to the BBC announcer's definition, Winston Churchill and the RAF were all war criminals, because they inflicted "disproportionate" suffering on Germany to win the war.
Really, surprised Israelis don't understand and talk about this more.
