I hear today about the right to protest as a "holy right". I never before heard such a thing. My grandfather was going through Batei Ungarin when the people there were protesting, the police beat him and broke his hand.

So you are saying that his grandfather shouldn't have been walking through a place where they didn't have a permit and therefore deserved to be beaten by police
ReplyDeleteno, I am sayign the hafgana he happened to be walking through (if he was really just walking through) was likely a violent one and without permits and blocking roads, as they almost all are and were in Mea Shearim,. and therefore the police tried to break it up with violence. Do you really expect them to discern who is "just walking through" and who is part of the hafgana? And who "just walks through" a violent hafgana anayway?
