striking similarity

As soon as Shabbos was out we got a message from our son that he was ok and it was not him. So we knew not to worry before we even knew what to worry about. That in itself is worrying, but ok.

There was a terror attack in Ariel. A security guard was shot and killed by Arab terrorists, as he protected his fiancé and fellow security guard from being shot. As the news slowly came out we learned that Vyacheslav Golev, the victim, was from Bet Shemesh, from a Haredi family, was a 23 year old student in Ariel University working as a security guard at the Ariel entrance, and is survived by his parents and 7 siblings.

Strikingly similar. If not for our son's calming yet worrying message to pre-empt the news, we would have been going crazy. Not to make this about us, when there is a victim and his family of living victims, but still, strikingly similar.

Strikingly similar.

It is a conundrum how these young men and women will put their lives on the line, and are expected to, for 35 shekel an hour.
