The Life Of The Newly Hassidic and Secular (video)
I always find it interesting when the "outside world" takes a closer look at Judaism.. National Geographic recently took a look at two sides of Orthodox Judaism and made the following two video clips...

Interesting, b/c I've heard of Footsteps, but haven't really seen what they do. There shots of the bookcases are interesting in the second video. I spotted a book travel book about Alaska, which is exactly the key secular information anyone leaving the Chassidishe community will need (along with knowing who Elvis is).
both appear to be the same video. The ex-chassidim seem to be from the most extreme of closed society

ReplyDeleteI'm curious if a convert can ever really be a chassid. I mean, would they ever accept a convert into the fold and allow one to marry their children?
Mark, she seemed to be Lubavitch. Whole other story and not really representative of the "hassidic world" at large.
