Seems like the Yated people can't count (video)
Bechadrei Charedim got hold of some video of the big anti-Internet kennes that the Yated had arranged for educators... Yated had reported that 300 educators had taken part in the kennes... The truth comes to light in the video, and perhaps this is precisely why the Yated is fighting so strongly against the websites - so their distortions and lies should not be so easily exposed...
I doubt they would go through all that trouble just for tropper. Tropper might have been part of it, but not the whole story. There is the issue of the advertising money going to the websites and away from Yated and others. there is the issue of too much open discussion. And there is an issue that their info is now too easily verified to be true or false.
But it would have to be virtual attendees - the charedim who don't have internet don't need to attend, and those who do would never waste the time traveling and sitting through an entire presentation about it.
I don't really understand the point of such conferences anymore - just to go over statistics of how many people would be frum if it weren't for a chat room etc.?
It's possible that there was a mechitza, and the other 240 attendees were women. After all, they are the true educators of our children, not the administrators.
1)You have failed to account for the fact that many the attendees were doubtless gedolim. Each of them counts like 10 of us.
2)To the extent that the ban was to protect certain personalities, and not just for the sake of protecting advertising revenue, Nochum Eisenstein is the one being protected.
And why do you beleive this video acurately represents the facts? Did you ever make a Bar Mitzvah? How many people came at the "scheduled time"? Maybe Chadrei Chaderim has an agenda, and shows a video from the first speaker when only a few had arrived, and by the time things really got moving there were 300 people in all those chairs.
BTW, where did you see three hundred? The article in Yated, which is hopelessly bombastic, to be sure, says "asarot rabot" -- many tens. The reporter for Chadrei Chadarim says the headline announces hundreds of attendee. Where? I don't see it! http://www.bhol.co.il/news_read.asp?id=14467&cat_id=1

2. the article has testimony from someone there. they prepared 200 seats and it took an hour for 30 people to show up. They even give an explanation - Rav Shteinman doesnt hold of it. He wants this on low burner, not on high flame as they are running it. Rav Shteinman holds that talking about this makes it worse and sends curious people to check it out.
3. this video, according to the article, was taken at what would have been the busiest point of the kennes. the speakers are the main one, and followed by the final speaker - not shown but he says they closed the kennes quickly at that point..
4. I dont remember now where I got 300 from. I saw the number somewhere, but it might be wrong. Either way, they expected a lot of school administrators and got 30.

besides, maybe the other 266 attendees were virtual ;-)
Maybe the rest of the people were behind the camera, or maybe they were out of the room at the time phoning in donations to Kupat Ha'ir.

Maybe it was a typo and they meant 30 instead of 300? ;)
